Farming entered Dragonwilds with the Fellhollow update, but it is not restricted to building a farm inside that region. Jagex said the skill could be started from Brynmoor onward, then expanded as your character progressed. That makes a small growing space a useful addition to a base, not a reason to postpone the entire skill until the endgame.

What the official update added

The Fellhollow notes introduced Farming, early Oak, Ash and Willow plots, and processing stations including the Compost Bin, Water Barrel and Raincatcher Barrel. It also added world food such as Pumpkin, Watermelon, Wheat and Tomatoes. These are the reliable categories to look for in your build menu and gathered materials; the exact ingredients for a specific plot or food recipe should be checked in the current crafting interface.

Set up a practical growing area

Start near an existing base so storage and water handling are convenient. Build only the plot and water-related stations your current materials and skill allow. Keep seeds and harvested produce organized separately from emergency meals so a new harvest can support the next growing cycle. If a plant or station behaves strangely, check its current description and recent patch notes rather than assuming a 2025 video demonstrates the present interface.

Farming sits alongside cooking and fishing in your food plan. A first-hour shelter needs a bed and a few essential stations before a large agricultural layout. The first-base checklist covers that order; Fishing offers another source of cooked food.

This page intentionally does not invent crop growth times, yield probabilities, water quantities or a “best crop” calculation. Those numbers require controlled tests or an up-to-date primary source.

A small-farm routine

  1. Use the current skill and build menus to identify the plot you have unlocked; the Fellhollow notes describe Oak, Ash and Willow plots as early additions.
  2. Place it near your normal storage and water handling so tending it fits an existing trip home.
  3. Set aside some seed and produce for the next cycle before treating the full harvest as food.
  4. If a station is unavailable, check the current recipe and progression requirement rather than assuming all Fellhollow additions appear at once.

The Compost Bin and water containers support a more involved growing area later. They do not need to crowd out your first bed, cooking space and basic crafting. A crop comparison table would require controlled tests of current growth time and yield; until then, choose crops for the food or materials your character actually uses.
